Listening and understanding will add tremendous value to the relationship.
- Clarify any confusion - Don't be afraid to tell your client that you do not understand & ask for more clarification. Use this moment of confusion as an opportunity to expand your knowledge and to deepen the relationship with your client. Ask for the clarification that you need until you truly understand. Plus, they will appreciate your honesty, which can lead to a more personal, long-term relationship.
- Affirm and confirm - One of the most effective ways to create a successful channel of communication with your clients is by listening very closely. As they discuss their issues, pay attention to their body language, hand gestures, or mood changes & remember to reassure them that you are listening to them by nodding or providing affirmative statements. Confirm with them what they want, why they need it, and then ask if your understanding is accurate. Be sure to reaffirm your clients’ needs as they had discuss with you.
