Cruising around checking out holiday lights is a popular tradition in our area and for a good reason. Several communities on the Northshore set up truly mesmerizing light shows and displays this time of year.
You can never go wrong with winding your way through downtown Covington on Jahnke Avenue, listening to your favorite holiday tunes and drinking hot cocoa as you cruise the streets.
Let’s take a look at some of our favorite displays that truly embody the holiday spirit!
Public Light Displays
Koop Drive in Mandeville
Bundle up and get ready for this incredible walk-through! For the best experience, cruise
through the first section of this public display near the Council Chambers on Koop Drive near Interstate 12 in Mandeville.
Then, park your car and stroll through the rest of the display behind the Kids Konnection Playground. With a stage hosting various musical acts, a picturesque carousel, lit tree displays, and even the big man himself, this one is perfect for kids and photo ops for next year’s holiday card!
Cassidy Park in Bogalusa
Christmas in the Park is another walk and drive-thru combo ideal for families. This public display will be open now through Christmas Day.
Enjoy the lights from the comfort of your car from 6 to 7 p.m. or experience it up close on the walk through after 7 p.m. til 9 p.m. The entrance fees are $8 for all vehicles, or $4 per adult and $1 per child to walk through.
Zemurray Park in Hammond
For more holiday lights on the Northshore, head to Zemurray Park in Hammond this month. The popular public display runs every Saturday and Sunday this month from 5 to 9 p.m. Some of the highlights include a miniature train, toy soldiers, and giant Santa Clauses!
Slidell’s Bayou Christmas at Heritage Park
The third annual Slidell Christmas runs from now until Christmas Day at Heritage Park. This incredible light display features over 80,000 lights all set to your favorite holiday tunes!
This free family event presented by the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. and includes free photos with Santa.
Enjoy live music, local eats, and plenty of fun shopping with family and friends all while shopping a great cause!
There’s no shortage of creativity on the Northshore! Here are some excellent private residences that feature eye catching holiday lights and lots of cheer:
This family takes holiday lights to the maximum with an impressive holiday display set to music. You can create your own personalized experience by setting your radio dial to a station of your choosing.
With over 100,000 LED lights, this display at 125 Chamale Cove is one that can’t be missed! It’s all for a good cause as well, with donations accepted that raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Lights go on at 6:30 p.m. and turn off at 10:30 p.m. nightly.
Music lovers, you can’t miss this house on Perriloux Road! Located right between Brewster Rd and Hwy 22, this favorite features animated lights set to music you can enjoy right from your car radio!
Head to 520 Windemere Chase to check out this holiday display that keeps growing with lots of colorful lights to delight your eyes!
Be sure to add 65350 Maple Street in Mandeville to your list. Over 80,000 lights shine bright each December; there’s even a canopy of lights over the driveway arch!
