Do You Have a Blooper Room?
DO YOU HAVE A BLOOPER ROOM?
DO YOU KNOW?
Raise your hand if you’ve never even heard of a blooper room?
A blooper room, in the Real Estate world is a space that needs some work that could prevent buyers from making an offer in an otherwise move in ready home.
Still not sure if this applies to your house? Here are some blooper room examples . . .
IS YOUR KITCHEN LOOKING LIKE it belongs in an episode of Leave it To Beaver? Could it use some Joanna Gaines magic?
Newsflash: You don’t have to do an entire Kitchen remodel! A few simple things can help turn this kitchen from a blooper room into a space that buyers see loads of potential in and want to improve down the road.
Some easy fixes for an outdated kitchen would include: replacing light fixtures, buy a new rug, change out or add cabinet hardware, or install a fun backsplash or even just deep clean the grout.
If your budget allows, and you want to make a big impact, you can put in new, neutral countertops and have your cabinets painted white or gray, but it depends on how outdated your kitchen is looking. A great listing agent should have “an eye” to help you decide a few ways to freshen up your kitchen for potential buyers.
Other examples of “blooper rooms”:
Cluttered, dark looking laundry areas that lack optimal storage solutions (think: if you hate your laundry room, the buyers will too)!
Rooms that don’t have a purpose (you can always stage these to be extra bedrooms, an office nook, a play room area or even a mini bar space). You know- your “junk” room.
Overly cluttered storage and counter areas (closets, pantries, countertops)
Formal rooms in a more informal living space – do you have a formal living room that isn’t being used at all? Add a TV and some comfy chairs and making it less formal to better fit the lifestyle of your house.
